Our time began with these words from Psalm 91:1—“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.” The volunteer who led the devotion talked about the comfort and peace that comes from abiding in the Lord. She also shared that this abiding doesn’t mean life will be easy and perfect; quite the opposite is true. But resting in God’s power is the best place to be when things are difficult—He alone can sustain us.
The realities we encounter are absolutely overwhelming! It is hard sometimes to go to the park and engage people in conversation because of the crap you will hear. In my flesh, I absolutely don’t want to get involved, but I must be obedient to God’s calling. This isn’t about me—it’s for His glory. We believe that all people are created in His image and that He desires a relationship with each of us. He alone can be the victor over the gross circumstances of our lives. We must abide in Him and that is our prayer for the precious people in the park.
