Praise the Lord for His faithfulness! This morning, He provided enough food to serve all who came to breakfast and brought the right number of volunteers to shower our guests with Christ’s love.

The first person I saw as we walked in to the park was a woman who hasn’t joined us on a Thursday in more than a year. Immediately I hugged her and asked her where she had been. She told me that she had been living just outside of downtown in an apartment but had been kicked out of that place and is once again on the streets. She asked for prayer about finding another home. The most amazing thing about our conversation is that we actually had one. She came to the park for many months before she was willing to talk to us and then she stopped coming. This morning it was encouraging to see that she remembered Grace’s Kitchen and that she was willing to share a little of what had been going on in her life. Please pray for her safety, that she will find a place to stay, and, most of all, that she will come to know Christ as her Savior.

There were so many people in the park! It was such a blessing to be able to serve them, but it was also heart-breaking to see the many needs. Not all of those who join us for breakfast are homeless, but most of them are struggling financially, relationally, physically, and spiritually—just as we all are. The scripture for today was Psalm 51:12-13—“Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you.” These words offer a powerful reminder that we need to wholeheartedly cling to our gracious, merciful, and compassionate God, especially in the face of adversity. Reliance on God doesn’t ensure smooth sailing in this fallen world, but it does mean that our Father will supernaturally help us deal with whatever comes our way. He pursues us, His children, to freely offer life-giving salvation. As a result, we will experience His perfect joy. Soli Deo Gloria!
