There was a record number of people in the park today. We served all our lunch bags before the line died down. We also had more people in the devotion circle than I can ever remember having. God is bringing people to hear His word, and to see His love in action through our volunteers.

Today I spoke with a young man I had seen last week, but did not get the chance to speak to. He looked very young so I was curious to hear his story. As it turns out, this young man is 16 years old and lives with his mother and several siblings. He rides the bus downtown each morning in the summer to work a summer job and will be in eleventh grade in the fall. He was extremely polite and pleasant and I was very impressed with his manners. He ate quietly, enjoying his breakfast and then left for work. I was reminded today that we have absolutely no idea how God will use us. The food we provide sometimes goes to the homeless, and sometimes it goes to someone who just needs to eat because there isn’t food at home. It may provide nourishment, but it also may simply provide encouragement.

My prayer is that we not become complacent or weary (Galatians 6:9) but continue in steadfastness and perseverance as we serve. We never know who God will bring in our path from week to week. Please pray for this young man and so many countless others like him who need positive influences in their lives. Pray for families with single mothers who are doing their best to provide. Pray for our young men growing up without male influences, and that they can break the generational patterns in their families. Pray that we as believers will get outside the church walls and be the church to those who need to see it. Most of all, just continue to pray. We believe in the power of prayer to change lives through this ministry! Soli Deo Gloria!
