Summer in the park brings many more people to our weekly breakfast. As more people join us each week, we are faced with the enormity of the homeless population and the serious problems that so many of our friends in the park face. May days we do not feel equipped to handle it and we feel overwhelmed.

Today, I met a woman who shared her story of living out of her car. She was discouraged but hopeful, and was grateful for the hot food. Her story is similar to many others. Some people we meet bring their circumstances on themselves. Others are there because they have had a complicated life and have not had family to help them out of difficulty. Still others have lost jobs or lost homes for reasons out of their control. Every situation is different and only God knows what has really happened in individual lives. But the truth from our scripture this morning is what we cling to: God loves us. He disciplines those He loves, yes. But we must not forget that He just plain loves us. He loves ALL of us. And it is because of that love, that we are able to love others.

Thank you for your continued prayers for Grace’s Kitchen. We covet your strategic prayer as we continue to seek God’s face through this ministry. Prayer is an essential part of any ministry and we cannot do without it. Please continue to remember us in prayer as well as those we serve.
