How often do we tell someone that we will be praying for them and then forget to follow through? Unfortunately, that is a promise I break a lot. Prayer is essential in our lives as believers and it is the most important thing we can do. The Bible tells us to be in “constant prayer” (Romans 12:12).
This morning in the park I had a conversation with a woman who asked for prayer for her and her dad. They have lived on the streets for about a year and really want to find a place to live. I assured her that I would be praying. She looked me straight in the eye and said,“Will you really? A lot of people say that they will pray for me, but they don’t.” How convicting!
Praise God for this reminder to take commitments to pray seriously! I will be praying for this precious woman and her dad as well as for all of those we served in the park. Psalm 6:9 reminds us, “The Lord has heard my plea; the Lord accepts my prayer.” What a blessing to know that God hears us when we pray and He responds! Through God’s power, we will be able to keep our promises to pray for others. Soli Deo Gloria!
