This morning was chilly and damp as we set up in the park. The number of people served was definitely less than last week. Those who joined us for pancakes were appreciative of the hot food and drinks and the kind words. We saw several new faces as well as many of our regulars. During our devotion time, the following scripture was shared from Isaiah 30:18—“Therefore the LORD waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.”
These words are a reminder that God wants to be gracious to us and to extend mercy to us—we just have to be willing to wait on Him, not run off on our own, “fleeing on horses,” as the scripture says a few verses earlier. He desires to have a relationship with us and for us to rely on Him in all things, even when it seems nothing is changing. Because God ordains relationships, we are following His lead in the park. It’s not enough to serve food—we want to invest in the lives of these precious people and share the life-changing love of Christ with them. After all, we are the undeserving recipients of His grace and mercy. How can we not share those gifts with others?
Join us in praying for the safety and health of those we serve. Also, many are requesting prayer as they seek to find jobs and places to live. Prayer is the best gift we can offer anyone—it is enough. Soli Deo Gloria!
