Today in the park, there were many opportunities to share the love of Christ. The scene during breakfast consisted of numerous volunteers spread out among the people engaged in conversations about life, relationships, struggles, joys, and prayer needs. It was encouraging to watch the Body of Christ using their hands and feet to serve.

One of our volunteers spoke to a young woman as she came through the line and told her that she would be praying for her. The woman immediately began to weep, as if she couldn’t contain the despair she was harboring. She shared that she truly needed the prayers and asked that our volunteers pray for everything in her life. She said she got up this morning not knowing what she would eat for breakfast and that she really needed the food. She drove around and the Lord led her to the park, which was something we had specifically prayed for during our prayer time before serving. The volunteer was able to share today’s scripture with her as an encouragement and as something she could hold onto during the week.

Another woman in the park today came for the first time. She, also, began weeping when a volunteer shared that we would pray for her. She said she hoped we meant it. Today’s scripture was so appropriate:“Why are you downcast, O my soul? And why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my God!” Psalm 42:5

The needs are overwhelming, but we know that God is bigger than all of them. Daily He shows us the power of prayer and just how vital it is to everything we do. We appreciate our team members who specifically pray each week for those we serve in the park, as well as those of you who pray that God will be glorified in this ministry. May we continue to seek Him!
