Luke 6:45 says“The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.”Today during our devotion time we were reminded that at some point in our lives we are all in need of a heart transplant. It is only through Jesus Christ that we can receive a new heart and begin to live a life that is holy and pleasing to God.

Today was a great morning in the park. We served all who came and were able to share in many conversations. The team member who was encouraged last week by the man who had begun a Bible Study was able to speak with him again and discuss what was learned. One of our regular friends helped by writing names down as people came through the line. (We do this so we can pray for each person by name.) His desire to help us with this simple task reminded us of how important it is to remember the names of those we serve and to pray for them. But the fact is, every person is created in God’s image and God knows us all.

The people we serve are nameless to many. They are looked down upon, criticized, and made to feel less than human. When they are seen, people look the other way and pretend that they don’t see. While there are certainly people we serve who have made serious errors and suffer serious consequences, there are also many who simply have not had the same advantages in life as most of us who read these words. We are thankful that the Lord has opened our eyes to see them. They are teaching us more about Him and how he loves all of His children.
